Paul Malone

DIRECTOR OF CQV/ PROJECT MANAGER

Experienced Director of CQV/ Facilities and Commissioning SME with over 28 years of facilities, maintenance, commissioning, electrical/ mechanical, electrical, design, construction, project management, supervision, and training experience in support of manufacturing facilities. Paul is a proactive, results-driven, and accountable project manager with expertise in coordinating resources, managing contracts, and controlling costs to complete complex, large-scale projects. He skillfully investigates non-conformances and conducts safety audits, optimizes processes, planning, and procedures to ensure capture of all relevant objectives, and leads and supervises top-performing teams. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; forges productive relationships and rapport with diverse groups of key stakeholders, clients, vendors, contractors, and colleagues at all organizational levels. He is recognized for sound judgment, risk-based decision-making, and solid work ethic and thrives in challenging, fast-paced environments with shifting priorities.

Paul has a degree in Business Management and is a Licensed General Contractor/ Electrician (LA County).

 

Project Management/ Start Up & Commissioning:

  • Manage and provide oversight of contractors supporting the build of the manufacturing facility.

  • Receive/ verify contractor Turn Over Package (TOP) documents and leverage during commissioning.

  • Manage the execution of vendor equipment Site Acceptance Testing (SAT).

  • Manage/ verification of Equipment Receipt Verification (ERV) process to ensure equipment/ spare parts, and manuals are maintained in support of the start of the equipment.

  • Establish/ execute a startup and commissioning of MFG equipment/ facilities.

  • Partner with OEM and trades to resolve identified equipment deficiencies.

  • Prepare and execute Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) documentation.

  • Review and revise P&ID’s.

  • Prepare engineering submittals.

  • Validation/ Commissioning, Calibration, RCM, Engineering Change Control, etc., program oversight for the plant.

  • Lead and direct others in the commissioning process, including General Contractors and Design Team Members.

  • Serve as a third-party entity responsible to the client/ end user.  Interface with design teams to assist in meeting the established project goals.

  • Attend Commissioning meetings and communicate professionally with clients and senior project leaders.

 

Facilities/ Maintenance Management:

  • Develop, optimize, and execute equipment/ system Preventative Maintenance (PM)/ Calibration programs.

  • Manage preventative maintenance staff (millwrights and electricians) in the execution of Reliability Centered Maintenance Program for a large-scale manufacturing facility.

  • Manage process equipment/ utility troubleshooting, repairs, and PM.

  • Review and revise PM/ Calibration SOPs.

  • Establish and maintain spare parts systems.

  • Establish client user requirements and implement enterprise CMMS System.

  • Ensure that all safety guidelines at the site are adhered to in accordance with our safety program which involves active participation in company and customer plant safety initiatives ensuring the health and safety of all employees.

  • Ensure management has completed training of all safety requirements and regulations associated with work performed.

  • Manage KPI's for Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost, Morale, and Environment

  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, draw valid conclusions, and determine a clear path of action with goals and metrics in all areas of responsibility.
